Q front page

On this issue of the Q magazine the most dominant feature is the main image as the artist is wearing sun glasses which reflect back to show the rest of the band, it is immediately eye catching for the reader. The fact that we can't see the main artists eyes is intriguing as it is unusual to not see someones eyes as it takes away a sense of personality, however this makes other aspects of his face more emphasised. For example his lips and hair are further emphasised because of this, his hair covers most of his face other than the glasses which makes the glasses even more dominant for the attention of the reader. As the glasses show the other band members it is highly engaging as the reader will be interested to see them so will look at it closer, the glasses are also highly engaging as they are reflecting light in the central corners so emphasises what is in the glasses reflection. The slogan below is relevant to the image as it states, 'Liam's beady eye kick off' as it is related to eyes there is a clear link between the text and the image as the artist is covering his eyes and his glasses are the main emphasis of the front cover. The house style is constant as it is used in every issue of the Q magazine, this is a typical code and convention of a magazine. The colour scheme also fits in with the genre as most magazines of this genre use the same colours of white, black and red and often change the fourth colour in this instance gold is used. The text on the left hand side of the page saying 'Noel was a tit, I'm very happy' also represents the genre as it uses profanity which can be seen to represent the genre of indie as people associated with the genre tend to be laid back with their language, it also suggests that there was a divide within the band therefore connotes the 'rock star' lifestyle. I like the layout of the front cover as the text is placed accordingly to the image I will take this into consideration when designing my magazine as I will need to take an appropriate image and place the text around h image. The magazine has used this in order to not take any attention away from the main image of the band as it will be the main article and will be the main code and convention to engage the reader. This magazine has also placed well known artists such as Adele and Queen to engage the reader as the magazine will contain articles on these artists which will attract a large number of readers as they are highly seen in the media and have a high number of fans, therefore will engage a wide range of audience members to the magazine.
