Following the theme of nature through my magazine I have adapted the article so that it addresses this theme. Throughout my magazine the artist is pictured in the outdoors, in particular on the front page she is holding daisy's connoting nature. In order to keep with the theme of music and nature I have included a variety of topic focuses in the article, with the main one being music obviously as it is a music magazine. I have also adapted the layout, as I have moved the artists name to the top of the left hand page as this was found to be apparent in the magazines that I researched. It also looked better like this as the quote took a lot of emphasis away from the main article. I have placed the quotation on the bottom on the image on the right hand side page as this looks more appropriate and makes this page apart of the article as it now involves text. The colour pink in the quote matches the hose style and it emphasises a certain aspect of the quote which again rel...

Through further development of my magazine, I have changed the layout of my contents page as I felt that it didn't look conventional or professional. I have stuck with the blocky look as I feel as though it is best for my magazine and allows me to fit a lot of content onto the page. I have adapted the colour of the boxes containing the text as the alteration from white to black looked messy and didn't appeal to the reader. I have chosen to use all white boxes instead as it makes the text more readable and gives the overall page a professional look and feel. I have stuck to my house style colours as the text about the articles in is grey and the titles in pink so that they titles are emphasised among the rest of the text. To again stick with the codes and conventions I have added more articles as the magazines in my research included more than what I originally had included. Also each image is now relevant to an article on my contents page, this is important otherwise the ...

contents page 06

Image
To follow the code and conventions of the magazines that I have researched I have changed the font style of my contents page title, through my research I have learnt that the title is usually in block capitals similar to the font page. So to stick to the conventions I changed the title font to fit the trend shown in my studies. Furthermore I have adapted the background colour as I believed that it looked dull and somewhat boring with the grey colour, in order to change this I have used a light blue as it isn't too intense, which would take away attention from the articles. The blue gives the page a more relaxed feel and looks more engaging to the reader as they flick through the magazine. To further develop my contents page I have changed the images, I have kept the guitar image as it is relevant to the genre of my magazine but I have changed the other images as I felt that they didn't look professional or were particularly relevant to the genre. The image of ...

It is the same insistence as the front page, I felt as though my double page main image wasn't very conventional and I felt as though I needed to change the main image. The old image didn't particularly represent the genre very well and wasn't clear to the audience that the magazine was an indie/acoustic magazine. In order to make the genre of my magazine clearer I changed my main image. I like the background behind the artist is it gives a sense of rebellion, as it is taken in front of a giant rustic container. The colour of the background makes the artist emphasised among the text and the artist still stands out among the bright yellow as she is wearing quite neutral colours. I again changed the colour of the artists name to blue as the pink text from before wasn't easily noticeable on top of the yellow background. I think that all the colours on the image and text compliment one another as they aren't too distracting and all seem to work well with one anothe...

front page 06/07

I felt as though my front page wasn't as conventional as I wished it to be, in order to make my front page more conventional I re-took my main image. I now feel as though it does follow the codes and conventions of a music magazines front page as the artist is looking directly at the camera. The cover now looks more professional as the image is of a higher quality and the background makes the magazine more relevant to the genre as it is calming and indie. For the main image I included the artist holding some daisy's as her name had a flower in, I changed her name from Annabel rose to Annabel daisy in order for the daisy's to be relevant in the image and have a meaning to the reader. Furthermore, I have changed the artists name from a pink font colour to blue as it is easier to read and is further emphasised among the rest of the text. I need to think about the placement of the artists name on the page because at the moment it seems to be covering parts of the image, in pa...

rough cut feedback

Image
The feedback given about my front page has indicated that the image is good as it relates the the mise en scene of the genre however it would be good if the whole guitar fitted into the shot so that the genre is even more identifiable. The font styles were also picked upon for being liked as they were also representative of the genre such as the 'Annabel rose' font style and the title, as they give the page a unique style. To improve y front cover I need to follow the typical code and conventions of magazines, such as decapitalising the web address and the layout needs to be adapted. The text about the artist is too straight forward and doesn't particularly engage the reader. Also to follow the conventions, the artists names tend to be found at the bottom of the page rather then at the side. This will allow me to place more text on the right hand side of the page which will engage the reader as there will be more features to read. One key element throu...

contents page 05

To continue in the development of my contents page I have made further alterations to it in order to make it more conventional and engaging for the reader. I have adapted it by adding a background colour to the page in which I chose to place a grey colour behind all the other features. This makes the text stand out amongst the other aspects of the page. But in order to further empathise the text I have placed the text into boxes to clearly define the different sectors of text. To make these boxes behind the text more interesting to the reader I have made them different colours to the page number, this again separates the two features. To reiterate this factor I have alternated the colours of the page number and text for the stories of black and white. I chose these two colours as they don't take any emphasis away from the main house style colours but still engages the reader enough to make them want to read more.
