Kerrang front page
Straight away from looking at this front page you can infer what genre of music it belongs to. Through the images and font style it is clear that the magazines genre is rock/indie as the font of the title is smashed which connotes the rock genre as it is quite aggressive and expresses anger. The images connote the rock/indie genre as in the main image the artist is clenching his fist and scowling at he camera which infers that he is a rock artist as he comes across troubled and aggressive. the other images show artist with piercing and Gothic make up on inferring that they are from the rock or metal genre as well but some of these artist such as the band on the right 'Paramore' are considered to be indie. Again the house style is three colours: white, black and red, the colour red could have been used to denote anger and danger which is also referred to in the music genre of rock and metal. Also the red font highly emphasises certain text with is significant to engage the reader such as the bands and artists names. I like the way that this front page has lots of little images on the cover as it gives the audience more visuals to engage them. These images are presented in Polaroid like frames which is seems to be coming back into style therefore it engages the reader as it is retro. One part of this magazine front cover that I don't particularly like is that some of the text is distorted, it is not in line but I guess that this has been used to represent the genre. I like the boarder that crosses across the page as it clearly engages the readers eye as it covers some of the main image, the colours of this strap also engage the reader as it is bordered by a red colour and has red text to further emphasise it to the reader. Overall, I like the format of this magazine as it represents the genre very clearly and has the right portion of text to image. I will use a similar format for my front page cover as I will try to organise my text to engage the reader as soon as they look at the page.
