front page font styles


I have used these three font styles throughout all three pages of my magazine as the represent the genre of indie and acoustic music. I chose to use the first font as it is quite retro as it uses a type writing style of font, this retro style relates to the genre of indie as it is part of the connotations of indie. I chose the second font 'vinyl stickons' as some of the letters are slanted and it is all in block capitals, I chose to use this as through my research it was similar to other fonts that were used. The research indicated that on the front cover some text was always in lock capitals as it immediately engages the audiences attention. Finally, I decided to use the last font 'moon flower bold' as it represents the genre of indie and acoustic music as it again is in block capitals which was a popular choice shown through m research. I also chose this font as it I simple but draws attention to the text as it is unique and has a general style that looks nice among other text.

MOJO's branding generally includes the artist/band being in front of the title, this emphasises that the magazine is a highly regarded one as it doesn't need to specifically show its title as its audience can acknowledge that its MOJO. This issue has surprisingly used a black and white image which is unusual but I think that it is used to indicate that the band is of an older date therefore it represents the band for what it used to be. Also the magazine is from a while ago so this could show that the codes and conventions of music magazines have changed, this helps me with my research as it indicates that I need to keep up to date with my research as the magazine industry is constantly developing. The image is again of the band and it allows the band to show their individual personalities through their facial expressions and clothing.
