Q double page spread

The double spread that Q have used in the Florence issue uses a key red colour throughout the house style which is the main colour of these pages as it links in with Florence. The red hair that Florence has matches the main theme of the room that she is in and her clothing, it also creates synergy between the two pages as red is also used on the left hand side page from boarders and text. This colour makes her quite individual and bold despite her shy body position. It further represents the genre of music as it presents her being indie which is connoted by her clothing, stance and the general contents in the room such as the lamp and cluttered room. The album cover at the top left of the page (next to the main text) draws attention of the reader, it sits along side the quotation 'This years most unique voice' which shows that Florence is set to be an artist to watch and that the Q magazine believe she has high hopes to conquer the indie music space, meaning that she must be a great artist as Q don't say that about anybody. To reiterate this there is a quotation in the centre of the page stating that 'the album easily justifies that pre-emptive Brit' which encourages the audience to listen to the album as it specifically is directed at them. This quotation is also in a red font which would catch the eye of the reader and constants the black text in the main article. The left hand side of the double page spread is in the form of a interview with Florence and engages the reader as it dishes the dirt on some of Florence's life. The layout of the text looks very organised and well though out as it still leads the readers eyes to important parts of the text such as quotations. The article is quite personal as Florence describes herself as being a 'choir girl who has gone horribly, desperately wrong' which also represents the genre of indie as it is relatively depressing and personal. The text reverts back to the black and white colour scheme, however it is still effective for the reader as it looks informative and professional.
