Acoustic front page analysis
Acoustic magazine clearly represents its genre to the audience even through the first sight of the issue. As nearly all issues including this one have the main artist or band holding a guitar which is a common symbol for acoustic music. The title uses a very simple and relaxed look which also represents the genre as it gives off a soft/authentic vibe which acoustic music is all about. The font used is white, this could be because it again is simple and doesn't draw too much attention to the text or draw attention away from the image. The white, yellow and black house style also give the magazine a relaxed look to it and make the reader focus on the artist or band as that is the most important part of the magazine especially in this genre. The font styles are again different for the artists name as it gives them a sense of individuality and allows their own branding and personality to show. The main image used fully focuses on the guitar and James Bay's key features; this being his hair and hat. The layout of the magazine focuses on these things by using the rule of thirds, I would definitely consider this for use in my magazine as it draws the readers eyes to certain parts of the image. The main images mainly used in the 'Acoustic' magazine generally focus on the artist as they look directly at the camera in order to engage with the audience, and the artist/band don't normally have outgoing clothing on, they tend to wear normal/indie clothing so they go for a natural look. I would also take this into consideration as it obviously is apart of the genres codes and conventions as it is used across a range of indie magazines and represents the target audiences style. The actual text focuses on the upraise in acoustic for example the quote from the main article states that 'its time for a guitar music revolution' which engages the audience as it shows that acoustic music is becoming more popular and that their taste in music will have a higher demand which should mean that there will be more of that genre of music. The layout is useful to my research as it indicates that all the little articles are separate from the main one and that they are neatly at the side of the page but still have importance as they are highlighted by the yellow icons.
