NME contents

This NME contents page is highly organised as it uses a set layout and house style. It uses the blocky look as the text is all formed on the right hand side and in particular columns. The house style is effective as it clearly defines the different sections of the page and highlights the important parts of the text as it uses a different colour of yellow or red. The main house style used is black and white used alongside the red and yellow, with the red predominantly being used for the page numbers and magazine title. There is synergy between the pages of this magazine as they all use the same house style, which is effective as it can then be associated with the magazine. Although the page has used the blocky look it has also included a image which covers quite a proportion of the page as it indicates that the main article will be about the arctic monkeys as the image is of them and their name is in block capitals. The title of the magazine is placed directly next to the title of the page 'contents' so that the magazines name is always in association with the contents and articles. Again the title of the magazine is in a red font outlined in white and surrounded by black background, this constant use of the same colours allows the audience to associate the colours with the magazine giving it a sense of individuality. I like the way that this contents page has decided to place the features of the magazine to the right hand side and is all placed into designated columns. This makes it easy for the reader to navigate themselves through the magazine and find which pages they are interested in. It even goes into further depth in that the text is split into further columns of 'news, radar, reviews, live! and features' which again allows the reader to establish what sections they are likely to read and shows that the magazine has a variety of contents so it can draw in a large number of readers. I will use this in my magazines contents as it gives the reader a lot of information about the articles and lets them decide what interests them. This also gives them a wide range of music contents that the magazine will contain such as new artists to watch and insight into some of the bands/artists in the industry. I will also sick to the same house style throughout my magazine like this one has, especially using two basic co;lours and one/two brighter colours to emphasise certain text.
