contents page analysis
From the first impressions of this magazines contents page I can infer that the genre of the magazine is pop as the artist denotes the typical female pop artist. I like the way that the background of this page fades from black to white which also makes the font colour change as the background colour changes such as white text on black background. I also like the title of the page as it is in block capitals it is clearly emphasised by to the audience. The main image also over laps the title which makes her the main focus of the page especially her legs as they take up the majority of the main image. The whole pages format is based around the artist legs which in a way makes her promiscuous and makes it prominent that she is a female artist, which could engage a larger audience as it could appeal to a wider range of people. Just like other magazines that I have researched the contents page is separated into different sections for example this one uses the 'features' and 'fashion' which clearly allows the reader to know which sections they want to read and that they can easily guide themselves through the magazine. The way that the main artist is lying on the floor and positioned on the page engages the readers eye as she takes dominance on the page. Her outfit isn't particularly eye catching but the style is as it is tight and shows off her features which again represents the genre. As she faces the reader this highly engages them as she makes a direct connection with the reader, her lips are partially open which again presents her as being a promiscuous woman and in a way emphasises her sexuality. In my own magazine I will take into consideration the fact that the text is positioned around the main image as this is the most critical part of the contents page, the proportion of text to image must also be equal and consistent in order for the reader to gain enough information from the contents in order to keep reading. The large V placed in the top centre of the page symbolises the magazines name. I like the way that it hasn't got a full, solid colour as it doesn't direct attention away from the pages title, although it still draws attention to the magazines name.
