MOJO double page spread
The double page spread that MOJO have used in the issue of the Arctic Monkeys uses a black and white background which represents the genre because it is relatively robust and contrast the orange font which further makes it stand out among both the text and image. The clothing that the two band members are wearing further represents the genre that the Arctic Monkeys present as they are wearing relatively basic clothing and doesn't particularly make them stand out in a crowd but still gives them their own sense of style. This is shown by the band member on the right wearing his sun glasses tucked into his shirt. The title first starts off in an orange colour but fades to white, this makes it very dominant on the page and catches the readers eye therefore making them want to read the article to see what it is all about. Also in an orange text colour are the band members names, them being the most famous members of the band. The bands name, Arctic Monkeys, isn't really mentioned much in the article and doesn't stand out on the page, this could be down to the audience being able to identify the two by their faces alone. The double page spread is generally image dominated as the image is spread across both pages, I might take this into consideration when creating my magazine as it is highly effective. Although the page is dominated by the images there is also quite a lot of text, especially on the right hand side page as it takes up half of that page. The main images both give the individuals a sense of personality as one looks directly at the camera and the other looks away. This again presents the genre as Alex (the one on the right) looks away and is quite reserved by crossing his arms, whereas Miles (the one on the left) looks directly at the reader inorder to engage them. This represents the genre of indie music as the bands tend to be reveal certain aspects about their loves which are unusual and shock the reader because their look and personality don't particularily show the same things.
