MOJO front page analysis

MOJO's branding generally includes the artist/band being in front of the title, this emphasises that the magazine is a highly regarded one as it doesn't need to specifically show its title as its audience can acknowledge that its MOJO. This issue has surprisingly used a black and white image which is unusual but I think that it is used to indicate that the band is of an older date therefore it represents the band for what it used to be. Also the magazine is from a while ago so this could show that the codes and conventions of music magazines have changed, this helps me with my research as it indicates that I need to keep up to date with my research as the magazine industry is constantly developing. The image is again of the band and it allows the band to show their individual personalities through their facial expressions and clothing. This engages the audience as it gives the band there own style and indicates the genre of their music and the magazine. The house style is black, white, yellow and red which seem to be a reoccurring theme of this genre as it has the white and black to make the red and yellow stand out and highlight the important parts. To further reiterate the bands name is in the bands logo font, this synergy allows the audience to relate the font with the band. '24 page special' is highlighted in a red box as it indicates that the band has a large amount of  pages in the issue, this would draw in readers to the magazine that are Beatles fans and enjoy this type of music. At the bottom the text says; 'Chrissie Hynde sex and the single punk' this represents the genre as it talks about certain things that are associated with the genre and wouldn't be talked about in other genres such as pop. Underneath the Beatles name is an in site into what the article is about, it reveals that it is going to be a 'kiss and tell' article as it uncovers the 'truth' about Paul and John from the band. This would certainly engage the audience as it emphasises that it is a battle by the 'Vs' and it finally reveals the truth behind the two which is almost an exclusive. Overall the magazine clearly represents the genre of indie as its articles and house style connote indie as they are unique and are associated with the artist/bands of this genre.
